With the rapid development of power industry, air-core reactor was widelyused in electric power system in order to improve the efficiency of transmissionand ensure quality of the power system. Loss is an important technical indicatorin air-core reactor manufacturing sector and operation department. It is not onlyrelated to the parameters of air-core reactor, but also to the harmonic content ofthe grid. In order to study the loss of air-core reactor, the thesis analyzed the lossthrough the theoretical analysis method and verified it through model of the aircore reactor. The specific research contains the follow items:First of all, in this paper, the characteristics, structure and operationenvironment of the air-core reactor were introduced. And the reactance of air-core reactor, magnetic field and method of calculation of air-core reactor wereintroduced.Secondly, given in detail the self-inductance, mutual inductance, and currentdistribution formula of each layer of air-core reactor were deduced and thecalculation method and formula of the magnetic field distribution of the air-corereactor were deduced. On this basis, the calculation program and the expressionof the loss of air-core reactor were proposed. Finally, the magnetic field distribution and loss under different frequencywere simulated based on Matlab software. Meanwhile, the relation between eddycurrent loss and resistance loss under different frequency were concluded. The production of a model air-core reactor were designed and manufacturedin the laboratory, by measuring the loss of the inductance and the frequency ofthe model reactor. The comparison of the measured data with theoretical resultsshows that the calculation of air-core reactor loss has high accuracy.
