A pumping station has built on the sediment-laden river whose and suction sump easily formed sediment deposition. Serious sediment deposition would bring the following two disadvantageous effects:The first, sediment deposition will change the original hydraulic condition, including reducing the water area, seriously effects of the forebay’s water entry, which can decrease the efficiency of pump system and bring much more energy consumption and water deliverycost. The second, High sediment concentration flow will aggravate the pump’s flow passage components’cavitation, so far as to increase costs of the set’s maintenance, which can increase difficulties in operation and management of the pumping station. Therefore, we must pay more attention to research on pumping station’s in influent and discharge buildings.This paper takes the Guhaikuoguan Pump Stations VI as a prototype, which is in the Ningxia Province. By using CFD software the three-dimensional numerical simulation is obtioned. Based on comparing the numerical simulation results and experimental results, it can prove numerical simulation model’s correctness and the solvement to prevent the sediment deposition of forebay’s rationality. And This paper include:1、Based on research and collect information, conclude the research home and abroad at present about forebay of a pump station and make the analysis of it.2^Based on Navier-Stokes equations and the standard k-ε turbulent model, this paper took a combined sluice-pump station as an example for research on flow pattern in diffusion channel by using CFD software.3、Using Particles model, Marker particles and sand particles are engendered by Monte Carlo method Random Walk Theory for forebay’flow pattern and sediment to forecast analysis. Moreover, use sediment scour model to proceed muddy water condition’s numerical simulation.4、Through the numerical simulation, obtained the forbay’s detail information of flow pattern and the distribution of the sediment. Comparing the numerical simulation results and experimental results, analysis distribution vecocity uniformity of any pump, the sediment of different measures and flow regime. Provide scientific basis for forebay of a pump station’s design and optimization and transformation.
