The effect of sediment deposition to the forebay of a pump station,especially the one on the sediment-laden river,can not be ignored easily.The forebay of a pump station is a segment that connects the intake channel and intake sump.And it can spread the flow in the intake channel smoothly to the intake sump,so that the pump unit can get a better flow pattern.The sediment deposition will change the hydraulic condition in the intake sump,and this may decrease the efficiency of pump system,even make the air enter the pump what can cause the cavitation.The change of the hydraulic condition obviously will affect the pump station’s normal running and the operation safety of the pump.Morover,the desilt usually costs a lot,but can not last long for the silt will sediment soon.This paper takes the Guhaikuoguan Pump Stations VI as a prototype,who is in the Ningxia Province. And research the effect of settlement to avoid sedimentation,using the way that combine model experiment and numerical simulation.This paper include:1、establish the model scales using the the similarity criterion of water movement and suspended sediment movement; then design the physical model according to the model scales,and choose electric sawdust as the modlel sand;2、divide the forebay into two parts to make sure the spare pump units do not participate the operating in different working conditions;3、the effects of rectification of the depressed plate and diversion pier are good according to conclusions of the previous experiment,so the paper take the depressed plate with a45°angle and diversion pier as the settlement;4、after the experiment with modle silt,I mesure the thickness of the silt of each control section in different working conditions,and compare the sedimentation in the forebay5、In the aspect of numerical simulation, the paper is based on the standard k-ε turbulence model and Dispersed Turbulence Model to simulate the singlephase flow and multiphase flow in the forebay,and analysis the influence of flow pattern to the sedimentation.Then verify that the rectification measures have done workings.
