The suspension bridge has become the preferred long-span bridge type for its beautiful shape and good spanning capacity. In recent years the development of the long-span suspension bridge is very fast in China. The Xinghai Grand Bridge which is being built in Dalian is a ground anchored long-span truss suspension bridge with460m-long mid-span and180m long side span. This paper takes the Xinghai Grand bridge as the engineering background to do the finite element analysis with the software ANSYS. The main work of this paper is to do the static analysis for the Xinhai Grand Bridge and to study the construction monitoring scheme of the truss stiffening girder. The main contents of this paper can be summarized as the following respects:(1) Build the finite element model with ANSYSTo build the finite element model of the Xinghai Grand Bridge with ANSYS. The element choice must be paid attention to when build the finite element model. The bending member should be simulated with the BEAM4element, and the tension-only element should be simulated with the LINK10element. The incremental launching of the main saddle is simulated with the constraint equation between the tower top and the main cable.(2) The static analysis of the Xinahai Grand BridgeThe static analysis in this paper includes the internal force analysis and the displacement analysis of the bridge under its own dead load and some other external loads. This paper gives the cable line shape of the finished bridge and the empty cable line shape, and calculates out the unstressed length of the cable and hangers, which will become the control parameters during the construction process.(3) The study of the lifting scheme for the truss stiffening girderThe lifting scheme is the most important part of the suspension bridge construction monitoring. The main contents include the lifting sequence and the connection mode of the truss segment, which both have great influence on the displacement and internal force of the structure. This paper compares the displacement of the cable under two kinds of lifting sequence. There are mainly three kinds of connection ways for the truss segments, which are hinged as soon as the segment is lifted, rigidly connected as soon as the segment is lifted and sectional connected. Compare the pros and cons of the three kinds of connection mode by calculating the internal force and displacement of the main components.
