The construction process of concrete dam is a huge system engineering mixed with multi-factors and complex relationships. It’s necessary to formulate detailed construction design to guide and monitor the specific implementation process so that the system could be operated smoothly and efficiently. Especially for large and medium-sized concrete dam, of which the difficulty of the construction organizations also increase accordingly because of the huge investment of resources, complicated and changeable environment and technical conditions, long construction period and multi-uncertainties. Compiling construction design needs lots of manpower and time investments and requires repeated modifications and adjustments resulted from the decision-making changes, design changes, resource supply changes, and the ever-changing natural factors. To design an optimized construction organization need to consider the joint actions of multi-factors based on wealth of engineering experience. However, it is difficult to obtain multiple proposals for preferred just solely rely on manpower to complete this working. The obvious superiorities of construction design integrated with computer simulation technology are fully to consider the complex influencing factors of the engineering, and to achieve construction organization design optimization through comparing the multi-program simulation results. Therefore, research on construction simulations of the concrete dam has essential significance.Based on the existing researching, this paper focused on the supplement and improvement of the modeling process for the concrete dam construction simulations. Firstly, the concreting sequencing method based on preparatory work simulation is built and corresponding model is programmed by analyzing the actual concreting sequencing process and the construction process. A project example was simulated using this model, and the viable, dynamic, random concreting sequences was obtained. Secondly, in the process of simulating the entire concrete dam, the paper completed the simulation of multiple ways of concrete transportation warehousing. Besides, the paper focused on the researching about crane transportation warehousing for concrete and completion of the program designing. Lastly, the paper developed the input information interface for the concrete dam construction simulation system with Visual Basic language to achieve multiple functions of add, delete, modify, query and others for the parameter system and to obtain the two-dimensional visualization of the simulation by dam lift figure. With the established simulation system of concrete dam construction, the paper completed the case study and finally obtained construction period, concrete pouring strength statistics, deck divided and ordering program, feasibility study data of construction machinery configuration program, and detailed simulation schedule, which is in line with the laws of engineering. Tests showed that this simulation system could effectively assist the concrete dam construction design working with certain versatility and significantly optimize the construction organization design.
