With the running speed of railway rolling stock becoming progressively faster, the safety requirements of rail vehicle getting higher and higher. In order to further improve the safety of vehicles and to ensure the safety of passengers, vehicle passive safety research is particularly important in nowadays. This article start from the research status of nonlinear large deformation impact of the railway vehicles at home and abroad, explain the necessity for study of vehicle passive safety performance, based on the finite element method, using plastic materials theory and numerical calculation method of contact-impact, to design, analysis and simulation of a low-floor diesel multiple units in terms of collision resistance, and get the DMUs finally which meet passive safety requirements.First part introduced the large deformation analysis of collision theory and method, several key problems of crash simulation and Application of analysis nonlinear large deformation impact software, focused analysis and elaboration of the issues that need attention when in simulation. Second part comparative and describes foreign standards about the impact analysis, and especially elaborated the design concept about crashworthy carbody structure based on the BS EN15227:2008《Railway applications-Crashworthiness requirements for railway vehicle bodies》 standard(Hereinafter referred to as EN15227), analyses the arrangement of energy absorbing structure of vehicle, energy absorption level, the structural requirements and acceptance of the principles which vehicle should meet. The last part, this article make analysis and calculation of additional-energy absorbing structure and main bearing energy absorbing structure of vehicle, according to the EN15227standards set the analysis condition about two-train collision, collision with vehicle、different obstacles with different speed, simulation results indicate that the car body design in full compliance with the requirements of standards.
