In the building energy consumption, the proportion of the HVAC system and hot water system is reaching to60%and will increase continuously with the improvement of people’s living standard. At the same time, conventional heating and cooling system will consume a lot of fossil fuel and pollute the environment seriously. Geothermal energy as the one kind of inexhaustible energy, its technology application can be used to supply heating and cooling, which can significantly save fuel costs, reduce the pollution of the environment and realize the sustainable development of the energy structure of building.Based on Wuhan city, this paper investigate and evaluate the technology rationality and economic feasibility of the ground source heat pump system to analysis its technology status from three aspects:the initial cost analysis, energy consumption analysis and economic analysis, therefore analysing its economic benefit and future developments and putting forward the relevant conclusions and suggestions for reference to relevant departments in Wuhan city.Firstly,the principle of ground source heat pump system. Mainly includes its composition, classification and characteristics, and in the aspects of classification, this part detailedly analyzes the technical characteristics of groundwater heat pump and heat pump with ground heat exchangers of Wuhan city.Secondly, economic evaluation theory and method of ground source heat pump system. Analysing the life-cycle economic effect and environmental benefit of ground-source heat pump system which the evaluation indexes includes Static Payback Period, Dynamic Investment Pay-back Period, Net Present Value and Internal Rate of Return, therefore, forming the comprehensive evaluation index system of ground source heat pump system. Thirdly,case reasearch and initial cost analysis of ground source heat pump system. Through the investigation of technical and economic data of eight cases of ground-source heat pump system in Wuhan, this part analyzes the equipment composition and cost of the ground source heat pump system and correlations among initial cost, building area, units investment, unit area cost, investment difference and the percent of unit investment difference, concludes that the units investment of ground source heat pump system increase approximately50%of the conventional heating and cooling system in the current technical condition which reflects characteristics of the generally high initial cost of ground source heat pump system.Fourthly,case analysis and evaluation. Calculating the energy consumption and evaluates economical efficiency of these eight cases, analysis the energy efficiency and environmental protection benefits and economic benefits, concludes that the economical efficiency of ground source heat pump system is superior to the conventional heating and cooling system and obtain great environmental benefits.
