Jiangxi province is abundant in rainfall, which displays an uneven characteristic. From April To June each year, it is the frequently-occurring period of rainstorm, when rainfall is intense, and it often leads to kinds of geologic hazard. In this paper,a typical rock slope was studied, and the influence of the rainfall on landslide stability was analvzed. The major contents are summarized as follows:1.The rainfall overall characteristics of Jiangxi province, the rainstorm characteristics, the rainfall divisions, the temporal, the spatial distribution of heavy rain and the rainfall of ShanKouYan district were analyzed.2.Landslide characteristics of Jiangxi province were studied, while the mechanism of landslide initiated by rainfall was analyzed.3.Several methods for slope stability analysis were introduced, and the essential hypothesis and principle corresponding to these methods were briefly described. At the same time, in order to get a most applicable for this paper, the merits and demerits and the applicable situation of these methods were compared.4.In this paper, the stability of ShanKouYan rock slope which located in JiangXi province was analysed by3-D finite element method. Engineering calculation softwares such as: CAD and ANSYS were uesd for modeling、assigning material property、meshing、computing and post-processing. According to the results, the influence of the existence of faults on the stability of slope was analyzed. Meanwhile, the sensitivity of several major mechanical physical parameters of slope was studied.5.The stability of the rock slope was recalculated by limit equilibrium method, the analysis results of which were compared with numerical analysis method at the end of the article. The calculating results showed that, in the same wording condition, comparing with numerical analysis method, the factor of safety that calculated by limit equilibrium method is slightly smaller.
