In the individual sections of the mountains urban roads, the limited minimum radiusvalue near to the specification and the limited maximum longitudinal grade even thesuper-value are adopted for meeting the environment, however, these sections always easilybecome an accident-prone areas. This leads to a great security risk. Therefore, some speedcontrol measures are set up for these risks. This paper describes several common speedcontrol devices in domestic and foreign countries, and makes the finite element simulationfor the speed bumps widely used in domestic. At the last, the detail design process for thespeed humps is listed. The detail work as below:①Comprehensively introduce the speed control devices in domestic and foreign, andanalyze the advantages and disadvantages of the current speed bumps;②To make a simulation analysis for vehicles passing over the speed bumps based onthe large general commercial finite element software ABAQUS. The substructure method isused in this paper, and the whole vehicle is disassembled to over twenty substructures, manyconnector elements, and some coupling elements. This method greatly improved analyticalcapabilities, increased reliability, and lowered the cost analysis.③Based on the dynamic response simulation results, this paper evaluated the effect ofthe related parameters to the ride vibration and comfort when the vehicle is over the speedbumps. Also this is good for the future research.④The speed humps widely used abroad were introduced. And some optimizationmethods, design process and detail requirements for the ideal speed humps were pointedout.
