China’s urbanization and motorization is advancing at an unprecedented rate in the21st century, which make the cities in to the land development, traffic congestion, trafficaccidents,noise pollution and environmental pollution, also in the center of the cities ismore seriously.According to the experience of the developed Western countries, thePark and Ride (P&R) can guide car trips parked their cars in the parking lot Outside ofthe city’s center, and transfer to large-capacity public transport, In this way, canreducing the travelers who want drive into urban centers. Also relieved trafficcongestion in urban centers and improve rail transit traffic, so makes the publictransport integration doing better in our country. Because of different nationalconditions in China, we could not copy the Western’s models, and every city’s urbanform and structure layout is also different, because of the specialy of the bigmountainous and clustered city’s urban form and the layout of road network, it take usthe higher requirements of make the convenience of the park and ride facilities anddivide the level of the facilities.So explore the level classification and rational layoutmode of the mountainous and clustered cities is the solution to planning of the park andride facilities.The paper first describes the concept of the Park and Ride system, then analysis thedevelopment background of China’s urban transport and the inevitability of urban futuredevelopment as the structure of the multi-center, and summary the main causes of thetraffic problems in China’s major urban centers. Then analyzed the particularity of city’sform and road network of mountainous and clustered cities, also analyzed thecharacteristics of traffic travel and the parking problems.From the particularity of the big mountainous and clustered cities,the paperanalyzes the impact factor of the park and ride and study the needs of the Park andRide. Also the paper establishment the layout optimization model of the Park and Ridefacilities. At the last analysis the building and guarantee of the Park and Ride systemsfrom the perspective of the managers.Through this study, we get the hierarchy and the layout optimization model of the P&R facilities of big mountainous and clustered cities, and get the way to build andmanagement of park and ride facilities, so it laid a certain theory and practice for bigmountainous and clustered cities.
