Research On The Pedestrian Traffic System In Mountainous Cities

Pedestrian traffic system is completely separated from motor vehicle traffic and an important part of the mountain-city traffic system.The pedestrian traffic system is a traffic facility and traffic service system which mainly rely on walking to complete the travelers' movement from one location to another location.The traveler complete their travel behavior by walking every day.Nevertheless,there is few studyfrom the perspective of system,that is on the role of walking in the integrated transport system,the connection between the pedestrian traffic subsystem and the integrated transport system and the reasonable system convergence between the subsystems.Wanzhou district located in the hinterland of the Three Gorges Reservoir area,is a typical mountain city as the second largest city in Chongqing.The natural conditions in Wanzhou is harsh,where thebroken land is undulating as well as the land groups are narrow and scattered,near the water but not hydrophilic.The land along the mountain and vertical to the river sets back gradually,forming a unique landscape.The distinctive terrain and topography led to the unique spatial structure.Urban construction land distributed in diverse elevationresult in traffic bottlenecks,less passageway,limited network,high cost of transportation construction.Therefore,how to plan the Wanzhou pedestrian traffic system,a practical and significant research topic,which can inject vigor into the city traffic,reduce congestion,energy-saving and emission-reduction,and improve people's quality of life.To achieve the goal that pedestrian traffic integrates into the implementation of the comprehensive transportation system,so as to relieve the congestion of urban,and to complete the Wanzhou pedestrian traffic system plan,this paper making use of the existing domestic and foreign classic cases and experience,analyses Wanzhou local customs and natural landscapes from the perspective of a traveler,in order to propose the pedestrian traffic line layout scheme based on four topics including life memory,leisure river,sports challenge,highlight of mountain and water.In addition,this paper analyses the direction and focus of the study of pedestrian traffic system in Wanzhou from the practical point of view,hoping to provide a feasible plan for the establishment of a pedestrian traffic system in Wanzhou.
