The rapid development of power electronics technology has brought many benefits to theuse of electrical, but it also caused serious pollution power quality. Such as waveform distortion,voltage fluctuations, phase unbalance, voltage flicker, etc. Among which the harmonics willcause great harm to the grid voltage and current, and it will make the environment of electricalequipment to be deterioration, impact on the life of the equipment, harm the surrounding ofcommunication system. In this context, the development of advanced harmonic compensationdevice for the power grid is more and more attention. Among these, the active power filter isconsidered the most effective means of harmonic control technology.. In this paper, APF forharmonic control implementations, focusing on the sliding mode control theory in the harmoniccontrol in the application of control technology.Variable structure control (variable structure control, VSC) theory have been proposed overhalf a century since the1950s and has become an important field of control design methods. Asthe rapid development of computer technology, discrete sliding mode control system has becomeconcerned about the sliding mode control theory since the late1980s, and a large number theoryhas been proposed. This paper will focus on the discrete-time index reaching law used in APF.APF in the actual application, the system control method for the control of power electronicdevices opening and closing time, the state, to change the circuit topology, as discrete variablestructure control of natural system. This paper will combine the current study of discrete slidingmode control theory, focus on the analysis of the application of APF. This paper summarizedbelow:(1) The analysis of APF circuit topology and system components;(2) The design of the harmonic source detection algorithm and a brief analysis;(3) Focus on the analysis of the current study and problems of discrete sliding mode control,this paper will design a complete simulation model, propose three different sliding algorithms,and simulate it.(4) As the right design in theory, this paper adjust the APF prototype and validate threedifferent sliding mode control algorithm used in APF.(5) Conclusion.
