| This paper focuses on the planning and designing of the rural concentrated settlements at the southern suburbs of Nanxun District, Huzhou city.The paper is structured by asking questions, analysing and solving the problem. First of all, backgrounds on new rural construction, rural construction management confusion and lack of rural planning theory are studied, and related theory on new countryside construction and residential area planning are analized. Based on the above studies, the concept of rural concentrated settlements as well as the research object and scope are clarified. In the analysis stage, a case study of the southern suburbs of Nanxun district is brought in, indicating the present living situation and dynamic mechanism of the residential relocation. There are several current living problems such as poor environment, lack of transport facilities, waste of land use, and ecosystem destruction,and the reasons for the problems include the difference between urban and rural economic system, economic radiation from city to rural areas and the rural planning lag; the construction of centralized settlements is motivated by government policy, location tension, farmer demand and industrial demand, Besides, farmers’reluctance and deficiency of fund are also adverse factors. Through the analysis, functions of rural concentrated settlements and principals of residential planning and designing are demonstrated. Finally, in the problem solving part, six design strategies and the three feasible suggestions are raised, learning also from the previously mentioned case of Nanxun. Furthermore, design strategy include the spatial layout of residential and industrial areas, the design of exterior space environment, traffic design, planning of public service facilities, green design and residential design. improvement mainly from the ecological design, low carbon of rural and city design method are introduced. |
