With the continue development of the industrialization and urbanization and increasing of the living standards in rural areas, electricity load shows a rising trend. The State Grid Corporation of China timely presents the strategic of developing unified and robust smart grids. Under this background some problems are apparent such as:the planning of existing distribution network is undeveloped, the management is confusion, the power distribution equipment can’t timely update and maintain. Faults such as fires, explosions have also occurred frequently, which destroyed stable running of distribution network, thus making huge economic losses for customers. Therefore, to achieve real-time monitoring and warning of the disaster of distribution transformer system became a very urgent research.Some kinds of oil-immersed distribution transformers and causes of common faults is first analyzed, we got the conclusion that the bad running of distribution transformer and the occurrence of failure in most cases can cause abnormal changes in its operating temperature. According to the demand of a state gird of a County, this thesis works out the overall scheme of wireless monitoring system of distribution transformer by combining the RF wireless communication technology and GSM network.With the main chip and modules such as MSP430F149MCU, DS18B20temperature sensor, CC1101and F2202, we designed a wireless monitoring system of distribution transformer. The hardware circuits of the components are given. Simultaneous electromagnetic compatibility of the distribution transformer is analysis using wireless monitoring system in a specific environment.The software designing of the wireless sensor nodes and central node is implemented using the IAR Embedded Workbench IDE development environment. Using the LabVIEW we design host-computer software of the monitoring system. We completed the entire system of network operation. The designed transformer temperature monitoring system can realize the on-line monitoring of the transformer temperature. The designing idea is consistent with the mainstream of the current development direction of intelligent substation.
