Child occupant safety is one of the important research subjects in the field of vehiclesafety. Researches show that the injury level and death rate of child occupants could bedecreased significantly by using child safety seat correctly. The traditional booster is anunattached device and must be fixed on the car seat via the adult safety belt or additional fixsystem. The process is troublesome and may result in the misuse if without correct instruction.It is easy to produce loose during the collision, thus can not properly play its protective role.The integrated child safety seat was designed integrated with the vehicle seat. The child canbe seated on the raised part of the seat and restrained by adult safety belt, so the misuse of thechild safety seat can be avoided effectively. Recently, some kinds of integrated child safetyseat have been developed, but there are some shortages existing. For example, the integratedseat will influence the use of adults and the side impact safety is not considered; or most ofthem take the place of adult ride, and the height and depth of booster can not be adjustedintelligently and continuously according to the size of child occupants.Against the existing shortcomings of child safety seats above, a new integrated childsafety seat has been designed,which is suitable for children aged3to10. Experiment andsimulation studies showed that the new integrated child safety seat could provide goodprotection for children aged3to10. The study was based on the existing integrated child seatto design the cushion adjustment mechanism. The height and depth of the seat cushion wereadjusted separately, and the gap of the seat cushion and backrest was increased in the processof lifting the seat cushion, and with the poor mechanical stability. Regarding to theseproblems, the design of two structural forms of seat adjustment mechanism was carried out.The two seat adjustment mechanisms have good stability and can realize the synchronizedadjustment of depth and height within a certain range and in the process of lifting seat cushion,the gap between the seat cushion and backrest is smaller.To make sure the strength and stiffness of the seat adjustment mechanism and reduce itsweight, the analysis and optimization of parameters was carried out. The Orthogonal designmethod was used to do simulation experiment design, and the LS-DYNA finite elementsimulation software was used to analyze the strength of seat adjustment mechanism and theHypermesh software was used to calculate the total mass of seat adjustment mechanism. Theinfluence of the thickness of the ligament part to their strength and the overall quality wasanalyzed, and finally the total mass of bodies as the optimization objective for organizations to determine the thickness of the ligament in the cushion adjustment mechanism.In order to achieve integrated automatic adjustment of child safety seats, the controlsystem of seat adjustment mechanism was designed. Through the cooperation of the seatadjustment mechanism and the control system to achieve the integrated automatic adjustmentof child car seats, so it could automatically adjust the seat height and depth according todifferent sizes of3to10-year-old child occupants. In order to ensure the function of the seatadjustment mechanism and the design of the control system,, the test was carried out and itshows that they can work properly and reliably.
