Mirror stabilization is realized in the optical system where one of the mirrors is stabilized in parallel optical path to make LOS always consistent with the axis of the gyro, thus to attain inertial spatial stabilization. The mirror stabilization unit is widely used in electro-optical stabilization and aiming systems on tanks and submarines due to the small volume of the exposed part of the system and light weight of the payload. Recently, with the development of the stealth technology, more and more electro-optical observation and aiming systems use the method of the mirror stabilization to reduce the scattering cross section of the radar.The2:1transmission mechanism exist in the mirror stabilization technology commonly.it’s purpose to eliminate the two times between the mirror turned angle with the line of sight and reslize the line of sight stable. This paper is origined from IRST system of certain battleplane, and focused on the principle and the feasibility on the mirror of sight stable line without2:1transmission mechanism. This paper firstly introduces the background and presents application status of the research subject, elaborates the principles and solutions of mirror stabilization technology normally used at home and abroad, derives the dynamics equation of the mirror stabilization. The feasibility of removing the2:1transmission mechanism is discussed on the basis of analyzing the correlation between the gyro and the position of mirror. Using Euler theorem, the positional relationships on the axis between gyro and mirror are investigated, the stabilization of the mirrors are studied and the corresponding results are derived without2:1transmission mechanism. Finally the particular design of IRST’s mirror stabilization system is maked, and the stabilization accuracy is tested, the feasibility of mirror stabilization technology without2:1transmission mechanism is validated.
