Large capacity reactor will produce strong leakage magnetic field when it is operating,this strong magnetic field produces eddy current loss in the tank and metal structure suchas coil because of the complication and irregularities with the reactor, the big eddy currentlosses will produce local overheating in the reactor tank and coil, which will affect thesafety and reliable operation of the reactor. Due to the tank is the structure that generatesthe biggest eddy current losses in the reactor, so it is very important to calculate the eddycurrent losses and local overheating of the tank and propose the solution measures.At present, the common calculating method is the finite element method, but the finiteelement method has to determine the boundary conditions with large amount of calculationto make it complicated, and should not be used for optimization designing; the analyticalmethod with clear physical meaning is convenient to write optimization program, and itsaccuracy is improving continuously, so the designer hopes to put forward analyticalformulas to calculate the eddy current losses of the reactor tank. Due to the existingexperimental condition can not measure the eddy current losses actually, so the designercalculates this problem based on the finite element method and the analytical method.Many researchers at home and abroad have studied the analytical method andshielding in recent years, in view of the shortage of the previous studies, the designer takesa new solution measure; the object is magnetic saturation controllable reactor, the basicstructure, working principle and advantages are introduced; using ANSOFT to calculate thedistribution of the eddy current losses and overheating on the tank, and put forwardmeasures to reduce them; the magnetic shielding and electromagnetic shielding areintroduced, whose position and size are analyzed; using ANSOFT to establish the magneticshielding model and the electromagnetic shielding model, and discussing which kind ofshielding form can achieve the best effect in reducing the eddy current losses and localoverheating of the tank, and proposing reasonable shielding type; using the analyticalmethod to calculate the eddy current losses of tank with generating this shielding type, and putting forward analytical formulas, verifying the accuracy of the analytical method basedon the result of ANSOFT.
