Vehicle traffic information system based on Embedded Technology includes satellitepositioning technology,wireless communication technology, geographic nfor-mationtechnology and embedded technology, which owns the advantages as follows: small size, lowpower, low cost and so on. This system not only can provide real-time traffic information,vehicle position information for the driver, but also play significantly in traffic schedulingmanagement significantly. When the vehicle traffic information system comes into a widelyused, it can effectively avoid traffic accident rate, remit road congestion and improve theefficiency in the use of city road.This paper firstly put forward the opinion to combine satellite navigation, wirelesscommunication technology with embedded Linux system based on the technologycharacteristics and requirements of vehicle traffic information system, to realize the thevehicle traffic information system solutions on the platform in ARM9by transplanting Linuxoperating system.For the whole scheme, hardware design based on embedded technology isthe basis of the design, and Linux system is its software development platform, this paperstudies emphatically from these two aspects.This Paper firstly introduces the background and the domestic and foreign developmentpresent situationof vehicle traffic information terminal, and introduces the main work. Thenthe basic framework of traffic information system is designed according to the basicdemand.The hardware platform of the system based on of the microprocessor ARM9architecture is developed, which makes the S3C2440A processor as its core.Then the paperintroduces the power supply circuit, serial interface circuit, JTAG interface circuit, NANDFlash interface circuit, the network interface circuit, GPS module interface circuit and GPRSmodule interface circuit。After Linux system is analyzed, it takes the work to build a compiledenvironment, Bootloader and transplant kernel with the file system of transplantation;Thispaper also study the man-machine interface on the basis of embedded GUI.The vehicle traffic information system based on Embedded Technology is debugged bythe experiment, the results show that basically achieved the design requirements, and theoperation is stable and reliable.
