With rapid development of national economy and continual improvement ofpeople’s living standard, China has entered into a rapid stage of urbanization. Cityscale rises sharply and the utilization and structure of land has been changed, whichlead to an increasing demand in city and intercity transportation. Recently, China’sdeveloping continuously automobile industry has driven the price of cars down andnumber of city vehicles up. Issues, such as “difficulties in city travelling and parking”are more and more severe. Furthermore, a series of problems such as, the air pollution,waste of energy, and noise pollution have a strong impact on China’s economicdevelopment and people’s living standard. Thus, traffic problem as become thebottleneck for the urban development.Public transit serves as a means of high-capacity and low-energy oftransportation, especially the subway, BRT, light railway and other inter-city railtransport, which have been appreciated by many traffic engineers from home andabroad. By enhancing the attraction of public transit, more citizens choose to travel bybus instead of private cars, which reduce the aggregate demand of city traffic, andcoordinate the increase in traffic demand and construction of road infrastructure. Todevelop public transit is considered to be one of efficient paths to solve urban trafficproblems. Given the scarcity of the urban land resources in most cities of China, itwill be extremely difficult to fully implement BRT, which requires a mass of financialand material capabilities. We could install bus transit lane intersection lane, transitsignal priority strategy and other ways to transit non-fast public transportation intobus rapid transit period.This thesis is based on the above understanding, with the purpose to constructtransit signal priority system which fits the urban road network. This paper takestransit signal priority control method system as research objects, and focuses on thestudy on transit signal priority strategy of intersection and optimization model.First, introduce the study background of transit signal priority; analyze currentcommon signal control system with transit priority control and home and abroadresearch status of intersection transit signal priority theory and method; the currentresearch situation is also reviewed; specify the purpose and significance of research,demonstrate the overall technical route and the main research content.Second, based on the Queuing Theory, depict the transit signal priority strategyapplicative to different queue forms; based on the intersection space-time chart, determine the boundary conditions of different priority strategy choice decisions; andconsider the conflicts among multiple applications, and thus conduct detail research inselection method of transit signal priority.On the basis of the last chapter, introduce the theory of dynamic programming;traverse on apply for transit signal priority control problem; accordingly establishmodel and provide solution method for model, and also the improved transit signalpriority strategy logic flow chart.Finally, analyze the public transport and social vehicle profit and consider thespecial social significance of transit; based on the Bi-level programming theory, carryresearch on the intersection signal timing optimizing model under the condition oftransit priority; meanwhile do one research on model algorithm; test and verify themethod in this thesis through simulation example.The intersection transit signal priority strategy and optimization model is aprofitable exploration on transit signal priority theory and method, which providecertain technical assistance for achieving time priority of the public transport on theground and furthermore, respond to the national public transport priority developmentpolicy.
