This article summarized for the related to bus priority issues of the study of domestic andforeign, in the construction and operation of Urumqi BRT as the research background, from thepoint of view of the BRT description and Urumqi passenger development goals, to design thestructural of the BRT intersection signal priority system. Research of the single control modebased on radio frequency identification technology and short-range communication technology,and network control mode based on virtual detector, bus priority request. Introduces the basicconcepts of signal timing, to analysis traditional and based on bus priority intersection phasedesign and timing method, and then proposed the Urumqi bus priority control strategy. Choosetypical intersection along the BRT1line of Urumqi, to design signal priority control schemes.Used the intersection average delay, average per capita indicators, for analyzed by the VISSIMsoftware, get that the phase design based on bus priority and timing method based on the totaldelay minimum to reduce the intersection per capita delay, realize bus priority objective. Selectedtraffic flow changes and BRT signal priority technical indicators of BRT opened and intersectionsignal priority for quantitative evaluation. In the macro aspect, used the BRT service and the socialbenefits for qualitative evaluation. Through quantitative and qualitative evaluation of BRT signalpriority benefit, selected the technical of the per capita delay, vehicle delay, number of stops toevaluation Urumqi city BRT preferential benefit evaluation, come to the implementation of theBRT signal priority, conducive to reduce the BRT bus delays and stops, reduce the intersection percapita delay advantage, and the social vehicle’s impact in a smaller range.
