Because of having many advantages, concrete face rockfill dam has become a competitive dam type. But along with the increasing number of the dam, we also found a number of difficult issues and problems,"panel void" is one of them. The panel is the main structure of the dam seepage prevention. After the void phenomenon appears, the panel loses the support of cushion material, leading to the deterioration of working conditions, and even the emergence of structural cracks. Therefore, people pay more and more attention. Combined with engineering instance, the paper analyzed the operating conditions of the dam under different working conditions and studied stress and deformation of the panel after void.In this paper, the main work done is as follows:1. The paper analyzed and compared comprehensively the advantages and disadvantages of various models of materials, and finally determined that the three-dimensional finite element program selected generalized Duncan E-B model, Yin Zong-ze thin layer element model and linear elastic model to simulate the stress and deformation of rockfill, contact surface, concrete panel.2. The basic principles of three-dimensional finite element program were briefly expounded. The stress and deformation of the Xiao Xi-kou concrete face rockfill dam were analyzed and calculated through three-dimensional earth dam static calculation program. The results show that deformation and stress distribution of the dam are very reasonable and at the same time verify the correctness of the program.3. The direct cause of void damage of CFRD is void leading to the bending structure crack of panel. The reason and mechanism of bending structure cracks was analyzed. The normal stress and deformation of the lower surface of the panel were selected to analyze the phenomenon of void.4. According to the stress and deformation calculation results of the panel of Xiao Xi-kou CFRD, the paper selected the common area of the panel to simulate void where Panel’s stress and displacement are not extreme value, and got the general changing trend of the stress and deflection with void.5. Assuming there was only one area of void, the paper selected five different positions of the riverbed section of panel to simulate void separately and independently, and finally got the curves of normal stress and deflection of void of different heights; Assuming there were more than one area of void, the paper simulated void on the five positions of the riverbed section of panel at the same time to study the effect of each pavement area to each other.
