With the development of economic globalization, maritime traffic has become busy increasingly,safety navigation is becoming increasingly important. As the most important navigation information platform, ECDIS has become the core of electronic navigation technology.The main navigational functions of ECDIS are route validating and route monitoring. Traditional route validating was conducted on paper charts,validating results depends entirely on sailor’s experience, work proficiency and attitude,it often bring many potential unsafe factors to sail.Route validating and route monitoring was conducted automatically in ECDIS,it enhances the safety of navigation greatly.The main contents in route validating are:points under safety depth near route,isolated danger,across safety depth contour,across danger area,across land.The main content in route monitoring are:yaw and deviation,reaching to turning point,across safety contour and danger area.The main reaearch objects in this paper are route validating and route monitoring in ECDIS.The main work are as follows:(1) Put forward a model of ship domain. Based on the buffer analysis of spatial analysis, combined with concepts of vessel’s domain,this paper established route domain model,this moedel unifies validating algorithms of point targets,line targets and surface targets that is required in STCW,and illustrated in follow charts,detailed steps and validating examples,the experiments show this model is correct and effective.(2) Proposed a multilayer tree structure ENC data structure.Chart data is complicated; its storage needs to be classified and reasonable arrangements for the index structure. This index structure greatly reduces the indexing time of chart data and improves the validate efficiency,established foundation for realizing route validating.(3) Realize navigational early warnings fuction and navigational warning function in route monitoring. According to the requirements of yaw and deviation warining, reaching the turning point warining, hazardous targets alarm, this paper proposed the corresponding validating model and algorithm. The experiments show this model and algorithm are effective.
