Along with the multiple outbreaks of oil crisis and the continuous high international crude oil prices, energy conservation and emission reduction problem have drawn more and more attention by people. In the operation cost of ship, the proportion of fuel cost is also increasing. Saving fuel has become one of the most concerned things in international shipping and shipbuilding industry. The shaft generator is driven by the marine diesel engine. It has very significant effect in terms of energy saving, so it has been widely used especially on the ocean shipping.First of all, the paper makes a simple introduction of the development in shaft generator system and analyses the development and present situation of this technology at home and abroad. Then it makes a macro analysis of the overall composition and structure of SIEMENS shaft type marine power station system and gives a briefly description on functions of each part.Secondly the paper is for the core control system of the shaft type marine power station system, gives the detailed analysis of each subsystem on structure and function of the voltage and reactive power automatic control system and frequency and active power automatic control system. It also gives the input and output relationship of each unit on the basis of circuit principle. Then it makes the prediction of the whole system using the reliability analysis theory and reliability prediction method on the basis of the principle analysis, and calculates the overall MTBF of the system. At the end of the paper it finds out the weak links hidden in the system according to the results of reliability prediction and puts forward some suggestions according to these weak links to improve the reliability of the system.This paper is based on the laboratory’s SIEMENS shaft type marine power station system. And makes the detailed analysis of its composition、structure and function. Then it makes the reliability prediction of the whole system with the theory of reliability on this basis. The analysis and research that this paper made have the certain reference value for the application and development of the shaft type marine power station system. power station system.
