Crawler crane has made great contribution to the society in the field of industrialization, urbanization, construction of energy and transportation and so on. With the continual change of the structure of the crawler crane boom, the stability of boom gains more attention, especially the stability of the Combined Arms. The torsional effect of the main boom is usually the underlying factor for lateral buckling of Combined Arms, while nowadays the stability analysis methods are splitting the combination and calculating separately without consideration of the influence on the whole. Meanwhile it is a tedious process using ANSYS modeling the stability of Combined Arms, the torsional effect of the main boom also been ignored during the equivalent analysis.In allusion to the problems mentioned above, in this paper taking DLUT and DH1.DCW GROUP CO.,LTD. Cooperation development QUY750crawler crane as an example; Taking advantage of truss boom in-plane moment of inertia equivalence principle and Combined Arms torsional moment of inertia principle of equivalence to simplify the boom finite element modeling, and compared the stability results of the analysis of complex models and simplified models, and identified boom simplification correctness; In this paper we also analyzed the torsional effect factors that influence the overall stability and obtained regularity curve of the relevant factors, the main research work and achievements are as follows:(1) According the principle, structure and the mechanical characteristics of the Combined Arms of Crawler-Crane, we proposed the theoretical basis of closed thin-walled section beam bending and torsional buckling.(2) Using truss type equivalent moment of inertia and combined Arms torsional moment of inertia of the equivalent method of the combined Arms of Crawler-Crane in ANSYS to simplify, comparing the stability results of the analysis of complex models and simplified models to determining the correctness and reliability of the simplified scheme.(3) Analyzing the torsion effect of the boom on the influence of the overall stability, and discusses the influence of the overall stability from the main boom of the torsional moment of inertia on combined Arms, drawing the regularity of the curve, and doing research on the influence on overall stability and torsional deformation of diameter and wall thickness of the space boom. (4) Applying the different levels of load in the head of the tower boom, Taking advantage of ANSYS simplified model for stability analysis, drawing the horizontal side load curve for the stability of the regularity, and the same to reverse the effects of different amplitude conditions contrast, come to the same result that torsional effects stability is getting worse with the increase of the working range.
