The crankshaft is one of the most critical components of the diesel engine. It endures complex and alternate loads and it is one of the key and difficulty point of the diesel engine design. The traditional design and analysis methods are so simple that cannot be satisfied with actual demands. The Multi-body System Dynamic and the Finite Element Analysis(FEA) make precise analysis of the crankshaft being true.In this paper, the diesel engine crankshaft mechanism of4105is taken as the research object. By using Three-dimensional modeling software CATIA and Multi body System Dynamics software ADAMS and the Finite Element Analysis software ANSYS, the multi-body dynamics model and make the connecting-rod flexibility for the flexible multi-body dynamics model are created. Using ANSYS and LMS Test.Lab system to make computational modal analysis and experimental modal analysis of the connecting-rod, get the natural frequencies and vibration shapes, then compared the calculated results with the experiment results to verify the accuracy of the model. Based on this virtual prototype model, ADAMS software is used to do a kinematics and a dynamic simulation, then movement disciplinarian(displacement, velocity, acceleration) for every component at any moment and any position is got. The force on the connecting-rod can be got at the same time. The dynamic loads acting on the connecting-rod during the work process of the diesel engine are got too. Reliability analysis of the connecting-rod can be done by using ANSYS to find the dangerous parts of the connecting-rod during the entire work process. It may also offer reference for the connecting-rod optimum design. In this paper without considering the influence of friction resistance and load resistance, with the kinematics and dynamics of the crankshaft mechanism is mainly discussed by using ADAMS, the accurate reliability analysis on connecting-rod is done by using ANSYS. According to the results, the dynamics response analysis of the diesel engine crankshaft can be done by using the simulated prototype technology with the means of FEA. It has great meanings, such as amending the connecting-rod, improving the design level, optimizing the character of a diesel engine. Generally speaking, it is an economical, effective and scientific method.
