Motor load simulator a wide range of applications in the study of applications in the study of electric drive technology. Digital signal controller has both high-speed processing capacity and rich peripherals, so that there are prominent advantages using it as the control core of the motor load simulator.In view of digital signal controller, TI has launched a kind of special embedded real-time operating system, that is, DSP/BIOS and development tools, for simplifying the development of softwares, as well as peripheral modules, and even for improving the operational efficiency of the system. In this paper, we analyze the structure and function of DSP/BIOS, and completely demonstrate how to apply DSP/BIOS on TMS320F2812. Then taking this real-time operating system as the development platform, we develop motor load simulator controller’s main programs. In the paper, firstly, we discuss about basic functions and software design needs of the motor load simulator. Secondly, we analyze real-time demands of each functional module, according to which, we set up thread priorities of functional modules of the motor load simulator and means of communication modes between each functional module. Finally, we design controller programs of the motor load simulator based on DSP/BIOS.In view of embedded real-time operating system’s programs, the design include the real-time control of load motor, the communication between controller and PC, communication with the human-computer interface, data download, testing curves download, experimental results upload and so on.RIn terms of the user interface, the system has a user-friendly GUI (graphical user interface) with a touch screen. The control interface contains a three-level menu, which displays the values of torque, speed and power in real time. Besides, users can set the parameters and input data manually on this LCD.
