Owing to its compact structure, reliable performance and large braking power, drum brake is mainly used in large and medium-sized vehicles. It is also often used in rear brake system in cars, due to low cost and easy to install.Brake shoe can be divided into two categories, casting type and welding type. Casting shoe has big quality, high heat capacity, long production cycle, high manufacturing costs and environmental pollution, high energy consumption. Comparing with casting shoe, welding shoe is lightweight, low cost and conform to the requirement of national energy conservation and emissions reduction. So in the future, welding shoe will gradually replace casting shoe in drum brake. The paper, based on dynamics analysis software ADAMS and finite element software ANSYS, conducted joint simulation and analysis of dynamic performance of welding shoe drum brake.And it carries on stress and strain analysis for welding hooves, in different kinds of reinforcement design under the premise that ensure the structural strength and stiffness and get optimal shoe structure.Main research work and results of this paper is showed in following:(1) Established a rigid-flexible coupling simulation model of welding shoe drum brake. Considering the influence of the flexible deformation of the braking system, made the welding shoe and friction plate with low stiffness flexibility. The modal neutral file was generated in ANSYS, Input the neutral file of modal into ADAMS, generated a flexible body, it was connected to a rigid body. Thus, it was accomplished the simulation model of rigid-flexible coupling.(2) Set up the equivalent inertia model of flywheel. Makes the vehicle inertia equivalent with one flywheel, let the flywheel rigid connect with the brake drum. When the vehicle runs, the software can accurately simulate the dynamics performance of a single brake without establishing the vehicle model. So it eliminates the establish work of a complex vehicle model, simplifies the workload of the modeling and simulation, and can satisfy the purpose of this study.(3) Established the model of truck EQ153rear drum brakes. Carry on dynamic simulation at initial bake speed of60km/h, It was obtained the simulation results, brake torque is15562.8N·m, The braking deceleration is5.49m/s2, braking distance is25.29m, contact force between cam and trailing shoe is2.5times over that between cam and leading shoe. The braking performance meets the requirement of brake performance standard.(4) Designed five different welding shoe structure modal, operated stress and strain analysis in ANSYS. After comparing the results, it was obtained the best design of welding shoe to ensure the structural strength and stiffness.
