By using the structure isolation technology, the acceleration and deformation of the upper structure can be decreased greatly when strong earthquakes occur, and a good deal of life and property can be saved. This paper studies the seismic isolated performance and influencing factors of a new base-isolation technology which called metal spherical sliding bearing. It is a type of FPS (Friction Pendulum System) base isolation bearings which is made of metal materials. This paper studied the data of the shaking table test and also established the numerical model according to the test, to analyze the response of the structure which used the metal spherical sliding bearing. This paper also analyzed the influence of different sliding radius and bilateral horizontal ground motions on the seismic isolated performance of metal spherical sliding bearing system. The results show:1、 With metal spherical sliding bearing system, the acceleration response and velocity response of the upper structure are decreased greatly, which means metal spherical sliding bearing system can well weaken the transition of earthquake force and energy from ground to the upper structure.2、 Six sliding radiuses(300mm,600mm,900mm,1200mm,1500mm,1800mm)are analyzed through numerical model, and four kinds of analysis indexes are studied and compared, which are the acceleration response, inter-story displacement, the displacement of the bearing and shear of the floor. The results show that with sliding radius increasing, the four kinds of analysis indexes are all decreased to a certain degree, which means larger sliding radius can lead to better seismic isolated performance of the metal spherical sliding bearing system. The sliding radius should be selected at about900mm.3、 The four kinds of analysis indexes(the acceleration response, inter-story displacement, the displacement of the bearing and shear of the floor)are studied and compared under both bilateral and unilateral horizontal ground motions. Without the metal spherical sliding bearing system, the four kinds of analysis indexes are almost the same, and with the metal spherical sliding bearing system, the four kinds of analysis indexes are smaller when under bilateral horizontal ground motions, which means the seismic isolated performance of metal spherical sliding bearing system is better under bilateral horizontal ground motions.
