Even though the rapid development of manufacturing industry promotes human material progress a lot, its destruction on the world ecological environment cannot be ignored. The excessive consumption of energy and resource, environmental degradation and strict environmental protection laws and regulations push the manufacturing industry transform from extensive development type to green design and green manufacturing.Life-cycle assessment technique is one of the most important tools of assessing product environment impact, it provides theoretical basis for quantification of product green property as well as plays important role in green design and green manufacture. The existing LCA methods are mainly sequential evaluation, which need high requirements on data and are difficult to evaluate product design concept. But product design concept is an important stage of product design and the entire life cycle environmental performance mainly depends on this stage. How to evaluate green property correctly in conceptual design stage is a research subject with great significance.In this paper, the concept of Green Feature is introduced. Aiming at the product conceptual design phase, rapid Life-cycle assessment (RLCA) method based on Green Feature is put forward, and the backtracking and optimization of product concept is studied, which improves the green property of the conceptual design phase.The definition of Green Feature is completed, the attributes of Green Feature is specified and the expression of conventional design information in conceptual design phase is also completed. The map relationship and expression form between conventional design information and Green Feature is analyzed, which illustrate the modeling process of Green Feature. The assessing and backtracking model based on Green Feature is put forward.Aiming at product design concept, the conventional design information extracting method is analyzed and the RLCA method based on Green Feature is put forward. Based on the modular product theory, the combination of product modules is obtained through function match, with which the virtual concept most approximate to the concept to be evaluated in function is built. Design information in virtual concept is extracted, then the relative IT design matrix is built, and the Green Feature of virtue concept is obtained based on the modeling process of Green Feature. The Green Feature in virtue concept which is difficult to be studied can be determined through expert estimation method.Aiming at the problem of lacking backtracking mechanism in green design method and difficulties in concept optimization, the backtracking optimization mechanism based on Green Feature is built. The sensitivities of Green Feature are analyzed through multiple regression method, with which the sensitivity attributes are obtained, and the design parameters sets are obtained according to the Green Feature map relationship. The concept optimization model based on multi-disciplinary collaborative optimization model is established, the constraint conditions are set, at last, the design parameter sets are used as independent variables to optimize the green property of product concept.Based on the theoretical research in this paper, a roots blower is taken as an example to analyze the Green Features, evaluate the concept and analyze the result of assessment.
