Portal Frame Structural is the most normal light-weight steel structural which is widely used in China. It has many obvious advantages such as easily built,light-weight,and so on.The traditional design method which is absolutely relied on the experience of the designers is firstly suppose the section dimensions according to the experience in the past, and then try to examine the strength, stiffness, stability and others. However, the design of cross-section dimensions often leads to irrational use of materials, economic rationality. This paper is committed to optimizing the methods of research to identify suitable for portal frame structural optimization methods, so that the design of more economical and rational. This paper briefly describes the characteristics of the door frame, structural layout, design method of internal forces and optimize the research at home and abroad. All the work is based on GB50009-2012,CECS102:2002,GB50011-2010and so on.In this paper,we use finite element analysis software ANSYS optimization feature to optimize the structure. The cross-section parameters of beam and column are variable size. The goal of optimization i s portal frame size. And fully take into account the actual conditions of works in a variety of restrictions on the basis of the door frame to optimize,we choose an example to verify the method of this paper. At the end of the paper,we get a17.7%lighter structure than before, and we check it as a whole one in ANSYS.After the optimization design, the consumption of steel than traditional designs in steel consumption was significantly reduced, through rational design,we can save more materials and made the design more rational. It can be a better reference of the other structures based on ANSYS.
