Because of the special nature of the large particle size fillers in in rock-filled embankment, it takes a series of problem to the design, construction and testing. To solve these problems, many researchers were committed to it. But there are no more complete theory by now.Combination of Guiyang to Guangzhou railway with rock-filled embankment key technology research, The nature of large particle size fillers were studied in this paper, contain size analysis and compaction test. In this process are introduced Method of similar grading、Series extension method、The rock fractal theory etc. Combined with the field rolling test results compaction, Puts forward the factors affecting compaction effect of large particle size of filler.Different from continuum material, in this paper uses pfc2d based on Distinct Element Method (DEM) to simulate the nature of the packing, analyses the nature of the material shown under compression conditions, including the models of force transfer、the formation of shear band the development of the crack etc.
