With the trend of the global aging, the problem of the aging in China is becoming more and more serious. According to traditional customs and actualities in Chinese society, we can find that the model of providing for the aged in China is still family-based, with the supplement from society. With the improvement of living quality, the demand of the elderly for the housing is increasing. Appropriate furniture layout and design will not only extend the duration of independent living for the elderly, but also add the living enjoyment for them. They can live more comfortably.The subjects of this research are those who become drumble after 65 years old.. By reading the literature and participating in the projects, I analyse typical the furniture layout in 5 developed countries such as England, Germany, and Japan. I manage to find a suitable design in these countries in order to find a model for the Chinese design. I conducted a survey of elderly housing about the state of the elderly actual using. I combine interviews, questionnaire and field survey in this paper to find out the problems which appear in the actual use in the vestibule, living room and bedroom.Depending on the requirements of the elderly for the living, I find the problems in the housing for elderly. Combining with the physiological and psychological characters of the elderly, this paper begins with the actual demand and the potential will of the elderly. This paper, which is based on the Human Engineering for the elderly, puts forward the principle of the furniture layout in housing for the elderly. Depending on the requirements for the vestibule, living room, bedroom, kitchen, dining-room and bathroom, I separately discuss the principles of the furniture layout in these spaces. This paper also comes up with the idea of the point of the functional design for the furniture in housing for the elderly. Discussing the primary furniture and device in every space, this paper is helpful for building up a space that is practical, safe and without barriers, and it is also good for the happy senectitude.
