From the international and domestic market looking, potato industry is a huge market, the prospect of light industry. Potato planting area into increased year after year trend, the government increased the potato industry investment, so that the farmers have better economic returns, improve the farmer’s kind of potato enthusiasm. But, with the improvement of production, increase of planting area, and the attendant is to harvest. In Gansu province,72.7%of the cultivated land belongs to the terrace and slope to dry land. Combined with the landforms of Gansu province and economic condition, terrace construction is the development dry fanning, guarantee food security needs. In2011~2015,new fix high standard terrace province7.5million mu per year on average, and1.5million mu. Therefore, small potato harvest machinery is fit for the province.Therefore, in considering the special geographical environmentn potato cropping patterns、and the existing shortcomings of small potato excavator of Gansu Province、 and the advantage of mini potato digger from abroad on the basis of merit. Developed a small potato digger matching a small tractor excavators. The machine suitable for dry farming areas of ridge harvest potato mode in Gansu Province. This paper mainly made more in-depth in the following aspects:(1)The function and the structure of digger was determined based on the design requirements of potato digger;(2)After considering the existing types of digging shovel, features,advantages and disadvantages,and based on this element, designed the wing type of potatoes digging shovel;(3)For potato digging shovel key parts by the mathematical modeling, and the structural parameters of the shovel analysis, finally determine the key parameters;(4)Using ANSYS software,made the static performance analysis of the mining shovel (5)The main factor of the damage rate and obvious rate of the prototype was experimented by Orthogonal design method,and then found out the best work parameters.
