Forest health assessment is an important part of sustainable forest management research.It is also a hot issue of domestic forest management research in recent decades.It can guide to build sustainable management plans and measures.GIS has bean used widely in foresty recently.But there is few study on GIS application in the area of forest health assaessment.The combination of GIS and forest health assaessment has become a new research field of forest health assaessment.This article takes the technology of GIS as a supplementary means to classify the landscape of study area and research the relationship between forest health and forest structure and build the forest health indicators system by use the combination of qualitative and quantitative means.This system divide the forest health condition into high-quality, healthy, sub-healthy, unhealthy four levels.The evaluation showed that:on the plot scale, the number of the plots in high-quality、 healthy and sub-healthy condition is separately82、975and154, the area ratio is8.60%、79.90%and11.50%respectively.There’s no plot in unhealthy condition.On the landscape scale, among the10forest landscape types, coniferous mixed forest%broadleaved mixed forest and coniferous-broadleaved mixed forest are in high-quality condition, Larix gmelinii、Picea koraiensis and Betula platyphylla are in healthy hondition, Pinus koraiensis、 Finus sylvestris var mongolicaLitv、 Pobulus davidiana、Ulmus propinqua are in sub-healthy condition.There’s no landscape in unhealthy condition.What’s more,this article designed and developed the forest health assessment and zoning system of Jingouling forest farm based on the forest health indicators system and ArcGIS Server.This System mixed forest resource inventory data, remote sensing data, forest map,digital elevation data, the photographs of plots, the indicators system and evaluation model together.The system allows users to find the information they need through network easily.The using of GIS and WebGIS technology adds a new approach and ideas for in forest health assessment, this method is more convenient and accurate, reducing man-made error.
