Healthy forests are critical for a country or even the whole earth, and forest is the basis for maintaining dynamic balance of the earth. But, the increased human activities, due to the forest fragmentation levels increase, and aggravated the insect pests, fire and extreme climate. This study takes Pangu Forest Farm in Tahe Forestry Bureau as an example, the final objectives is to carry out the forest health management in the northern part of Daxing’an Mountains, and the assessment on forest health is the first step of forest health management. Therefore, this study plays an important role in the protection of cool temperature zone coniferous forest resources and ecological environment in Daxing’an Mountains. Simultaneously, it is also conducive to promote the swift growth and sustainable utilization of forest resources, improve the unhealthy or medium-health state. And it has the vital practical significance in promote the forest ecosystem services. The results showed that the sub-compartments in healthy gradation reached964(area is23086hectares), and those in sub-healthy gradation were up to1391(35199hectares), and those in mid-healthy gradation were up to1439(36179hectares), and those in unhealthy gradation reached680(17601hectares).In terms of data consisting of the forest resource planning and design investigation data of Pangu Forest Farm in2008, the investigation data of permanent sample plot in2011and2012. And serve the plot type, source and tree species as the forest landscape division factor; the sub-compartment health index, fractal dimension and landscape diversity are selected as the evaluation index from the aspect of landscape structure and patter and landscape function; the health of forest landscape of Pangu Forest Farm was evaluated with mean square error decision-making comprehensive analysis method as the determination method of weight and the index formula of landscape health as the evaluation model. The result showed that (1) Pangu Forest Farm is mainly including10forest landscape types including nature Betula platyphylla forest, nature Larix gmelinii forest, nature Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica forest, nature Picea schrenkiana var. tianschanica forest, nature Populus davidiana forest, nature coniferous mixed forest, nature broad-leaved mixed forest, nature conifer and broad leaf mixed forest, artificial Larix gmelinii forest, artificial conifer and broad leaf mixed forest. Since the areas of nature pure picea schrenkiana var. tianschanica forest and nature Populus davidiana forests are relatively small, their health condition will not be discussed here.(2)There is no healthy forest landscape in Pangu Forest Farm and there are3types of sub-health forest types, nature Larix gmelinii forest, nature coniferous mixed forest and nature conifer and broad leaf mixed forest, accounting for78.51%of the forest farm (area is87977hectares),4types of medium-health forest landscape types, nature Betula platyphylla forest, nature Pinus sylvestris nature pure Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica forest, nature broad-leaved mixed forest and artificial Larix gmelinii forest, accounting for21.03%of the forest farm (area is23566hectares), and there is1type of unhealthy forest landscape type, artificial conifer and broad leaf mixed forest, accounting for0.32%of the forest farm (area is363hectares); the score of health index of forest in Pangu Forest Farm is low overall, and most landscapes are in sub-health and medium-health state.(3) The score of health index is high in the south and low in the north overall; among the natural forests, Larix gmelinii forest has the highest score, followed by coniferous mixed forest, while the score of broad leaved mixed forest is too low and the two artificial forests have the lowest scores. At last, analysis the causes of this kind of status, and made several suggestions for the staff in the forest farm.
