Farmland shelterbelts is one of the main forms of agroforestry in plain in China, and has been developed greatly since1980s. But research on the function of its carbon storage large scale is rare. The calculation on carbon storage of farmland shelterbelts in plain can reflect its situation and potential on carbon storage, which can provide the scientific support to the management of farmland shelterbelts from the respect of carbon storage. The carbon storage of farmland shelterbelts in plain in China during2001-2005was calculated based on the survey data with method of biomass expansion factor continues function. It is concluded through the result that:1) The carbon storage of farmland shelterbelts in plain in China in2005is67.83TgC, which is1.04%of that of forest nationwide. The carbon storage of farmland shelterbelts shows an upward trend year by year, and the growth rate is higher than the rate of forest nationwide.2) The carbon storage of farmland shelterbelts among six plain areas is different and that among provinces in each area is also different.3) It is got through comparing the carbon storage of different tree species of plain farmland shelterbelts that poplars are the dominant tree species, whose carbon storage is90%of the total carbon storage of plain farmland shelterbelts in China.4) The carbon density of farmland shelterbelts in plain is lower than that of forest all over the country, and it shows an upward trend during2001-2005. The carbon density of the farmland shelterbelts is various among six plain areas.5) The carbon density of all tree species is rising year by year during2001-2005,and the descending order of carbon density is Eucalyptus spp., Poplus spp., Casuarina spp., Metasequoia spp., Pimis massoniama.
