A. sinica Hance f. pterocaula (French. et Savat.) Ling, which attributes toAnaphalis DC.of Compositae, also called "Bai Si Lun Feng","Wu Hua Cao" or "FengQie Xiang", is considered one of the most important traditional herbs, owns goodfoundation in the folk. It is widely used in curing acute and chronic bronchitis,enteritis, rheum, dysentery, etc.In this paper, physical and chemical properties appraisal of the chemicalcomposition of A. sinica Hance f. pterocaula (French. et Savat.) Ling was conducted,results show that it contains flavonoid, coumarin, polysaccharide, saponin, tannin,quinones, sterides and triterpenoids. Then we conducted some pharmacological testsabout antitussive, expectorant and antiinflammation effects from each extracted partof AEPL of A. sinica Hance f. pterocaula (French. et Savat.) Ling. Results showed, inthe antitussive test, except for the N-butyl alcohol part, other groups could prolongincubation period of coughing of mice to varying degrees and meanwhile decreasefrequency of cough in3minutes. And in the expectorant test, each extracted part ofAEPL could obviously increase IMAO of phenol red in trachea from mice, and thechloroform and ethyl acetate extracted part could achieve the optimum expectoranteffect at the level of low concentration (6.5mg/kg) and medium concentration(7.08mg/kg) respectively. And in the antiinflammation test, the N-butyl alcohol andethyl acerate extracted parts show great anti-inflammatory effect, and showeddose-dependently. We also used the essential oil extraction device to extracted theessential oil from the whole plant of A. sinica Hance f. pterocaula (French. et Savat.)Ling, and analyzed the chemical constituent of essential oil by GC-MS method. Wegot56chemicals, and the cedrol had the highest content (23.88%), some otherisolated chemicals had the antiinflammation, antitussive and expectorant effects.Combined with the results of pharmacological tests, using MPLC and HPLC toseparate and purify the extraction from ethyl acetate of A. sinica Hance f. pterocaula(French. et Savat.) Ling, we got two pharmacology active constituents, combined theIR,13C-NMR,1H-NMR and EI-MS, we infered these two compounds are probably Artelinic acid and Fisetin. Artelinic acid is Artemisinin derivatives, shows great effectin antimalarial pharmacological research. Fisetin is flavonoid, has activities ofanti-coagulation, dissolving thrombus, spasmolysis, enzyme inhibition,immunomodulation, improving their memory, etc.
