Giant pandas have been treated as our national treasure. As early as1961, the beginningof the World Wide Fund (WWF) founded, the image of giant panda has been used as itsemblem and flag, beening the symbol for protecting rare wild animals and plants. Because oftheir unique aesthetic values and scientific research values, the role of giant pandas havealways been significant in international communication and cultural exchanges. The peacefuland friendly represented by them has long been recognized by people.According to historical records, the giant panda had once been widely distributed, fromBeijing zhoukoudian to the north of Burma and Vietnam. Since modern times, however, dueto human activity and natural factors, such as the population sustainable growth and bambooflowering and so on, the habitats of giant panda is serious fragmentation and separated fromeach other. It is imperative to reproductive giant panda scientifically. In order to improve captive giant panda physique and to reduce stress response of themin examination, some physical and medical training have been carried on to Zhuzhu,Yangyang, Niuniu and Sansan in Shanxi Wild Animal Rescue, Breeding and Research Centerbetween September2011to January2012.Physical training include the whole body physicaltraining and hind limb strength training; medical training include squating down in a pointand holding rail and lying down and opening mouse and so on. This is a dissertationspecifically discussing the contents, schedule and methods of training. The giant panda Zhuzhu and Yangyang have got expected goal after beening trained. However, the giant panda Niuniu cannot seize railing as left paw. So, the training forgathering blood failed. Because of licking the ground frequently, the effect of opening mousetraining for the giant panda Sansan is not very good when we conducted oral cavity inspectionand teeth inspection.Through the training makes me realize that although giant panda is very cute, they mayhurt you because they have harp teeth and grisly nails as well as rapid movement. So, peopleshould insist safely first when training and breeding. Moreover, training staff should havepatience especially when they train giant pandas with physical disability and cannot beatand scold animals.
