| Cerasus serrulata is one of the early spring world famous flowering plants blong to Rosaceaefamily Cerasus genus.There are many varieties are rich in resources, have broad development andapplication prospect. The current research mainly focuses on resources investigation, varietiesclassification, introduction and domestication, culture and breeding, however, studies on horticulturecharacteristics and landscape application mode of leaded varieties is involved little everywhere. Theplant is still short of complete theoretical guidance and methods, disadvantages of simplex variety anddisposition form, and lag behind in the level of application.The morphological parameter related to ornamental value of14cultivars ware studied in the springof2010,2011and2012, and then Analytic Hierarchy Process was used to evaluate ornamentalcharacteristics based on the research above. On the basis of studies mentioned above, landscapeapplication modes were developed with the using of field investigation and case analysis. Conclusionsof each research were listed as follow:1. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to establish the integrated evaluation system forCerasus serrulata cultivars on ornamental characteristics. The system was subdivided into target level,criterion level and index level. The target level (A) refers to the integrated assessment of ornamentalcharacteristics for Cerasus serrulata. The criterion level (C) was founded on flower (C1), plant habit(C2), bud (C3), branches (C4), leaf (C5) and rarity (C6). The index level (P) refers to specific indicatorsrelated to ornamental characteristics. The sort orders on factor weights for the criterion level and indexlevel are C1>C2>C5>C6>C4>C3and P15>P32>P1>P7>P16>P2>P22>P9>P8>P10>P26>P3>P4>P24>P5>P17>P27>P28>P21>P29>P18>P23>P6>P11>P20>P14>P13>P12>P25>P30=P31>P19correspondingly. The flower (C1) with largest weight in the criterion level is a most important andbasic property in ornamental evaluation for Cerasus serrulata cultivars, and followed by plant habit (C2)which greatly affect the ornamental value of Cerasus serrulata and other garden plants. The bud (C3)plays a smallest role in the ornamental assessment. On the index level, tree-shape (P15) with a largestweight in the index level is a major criterion affecting the ornamental evaluation for Cerasus serrulatacultivars, and followed by rarity (P32), flower diameter (P1) and flower color (P7), however, buds shape(P19), leaf apex shape (P30) and leaf base shape (P31) are three factors with relative small influence onthe ornamental evaluation.2. The integrated assessment of ornamental characteristics for Cerasus serrulata cultivars. Theevaluation scores on ornamental basis for Cerasus serrulata cultivars could be arranged as highestï¼ˆâ… ï¼‰,higher(Ⅱ), high(Ⅲ), normal(Ⅳ) and low (Ⅴ) for5grades. The corresponding sort order for14majorcultivars is Cerasus jamasakura ‘Haguiensis’>Cerasus incise ‘Yamadei’>Cerasus subhirtella var.Pendula ‘Plena-rosea’>Cerasus serrulata var. lannesiana ‘Sekiyama’>Cerasus serrulata var.lannesiana ‘Hisakura’>Cerasus sargentii ‘Rehder’>Cerasus serrulata var. lannesiana ‘Albo-rosea’>Cerasus yedoensis ‘Yedoensis’>Cerasus serrulata var. lannesiana ‘Yaebeni-Oshima’>Cerasus serrulata var. lannesiana ‘Shiratama’>Cerasus yedoensis×Cerasus campanulata ‘Yangguang’>Cerasus serrulata var. lannesiana ‘Sendai-shidare’>Cerasus serrulata var. lannesiana ‘Caudata’>Cerasus subhirtella ‘Subhirtella’.
