Tobacco is an important economic crop, and the planted areas are mostly in the South and Southwest region. There are many processes in the tobacco growing, especially, the leaf-cutting and disinfection during the seedling is indispensable. They must be cutted for several times before transplanting tobacco seedlings, so that it can enhance seedling root growth of the tobacco and improve the survival rate of tobacco seedlings. In order to overcome the drawbacks like time-consuming, labor-consuming, unstandardized disinfection and highly labor-intensive and other defects and adapt to the requirements of scale and modernization in modern agricultural production, an automatic tobacco seedlings leaf-cutting and disinfection machine which can set the disinfection mode, meantime, it has the function of cutting leaves and wrapping the line automatically and fault alarm and others.Firstly, the development and research status of tobacco seedling leaf-cutting machine at home and abroad was analyzed, and the existing disadvantage of them in market also be proposed in this paper. Aiming at this, the research target, content and technical route of this paper are put forward. According to the research target and the work environment of the leaf-cutting machine, the walk path was planned. Based on it, the whole mechanism of leaf-cutting machine was designed by CAD, and the feasibility experiments to all mechanism in the production process were carried out.According to the research content, the controlling system of leaf-cutting machine was designed, and problems appearred in the main controlling system was also analysed and studied. Each spray dosage was controlled accurately because of the PID controlling strategy was adopted in disinfection. The leaf-cutting system of the machine consists of horizontal movement and vertical movement, and the controlling strategy of whom are studied respectively. Then, the displacement compensation synchronization controlling algorithm based on PID is proposed in this paper, which keeps the walking deviation of leaf-cutting in the range of work requirement. To strength the reliability of system, the work status checking system was added. Which analyse the fault from data collected and point out the location of the fault happened.Finally, to improve the humanity of the leaf-cutting machine, the man-machine interface was designed and introduced briefly in the whole system. Due to the limited time, there are also some disadvantages of the leaf-cutting machine, so, some advices about the improvement have been put forward also in the paper.
