With the development of urban modernization,the urban land and the green land could be used isdecreasing day by day,and the ecological environment is deteriorating. The green roof is one of themost effective approaches to solve the problems. The study indicated: the species of green roof plantsand analyzed the stress resistance of the commonly used species to providing a theoretical basis forchoosing the proper species.Based on the climate conditions and the status of green roof plants in Hangzhou,the study obtainedthe data through a sample survey and analyzed the status and problems; the study screened out thecommonly used species--Liriope palatyphylla,Abelia×grandiflora and Hedra helix,and research thestress resistance through the following criteria’s: Relative conductivity,malondialdehyde, solubleprotein,superoxide dismutase and peroxidse. The result shows that:1. There are206species of green roof plants from24roof greening,recommend appropriate typesof40kinds. The common ornamental trees mainly are Osmanthus fragrans,Acer palmatum,Lagerstroemia indica,etc; Bush mainly contain: Ilex cornuta varfortunei,Camellia japonica,Photiniaserrulata,Cycas revoluta,Lorpetalum chindense var.rubrum,Michelia figo,etc.; The proportion of thetree species is little,the shrubs and herbaceous plants take a rather larger percentage.; The species ofgreen roof plants is increasing and the quantity become larger than the quantity of Beijing and Shanghai.2. Through comparative studying the presentation after the stress, relative conductivity,malondialdehyde,soluble protein,superoxide dismutase and peroxidaes,we find that the order of thecold-resistant capacity is Abelia×grandiflora﹥Hedra helix﹥Liriope palatyphylla,the order of theheat-resisting capacity is Abelia×grandiflora﹥Liriope palatyphylla﹥Hedra helix,and the order ofdrought resistance capacity is Liriope palatyphylla﹥Abelia×grandiflora﹥Hedra helix.Liriope palatyphylla and Abelia×grandiflora’s resistance relatively strong, and can basically adaptto the Hangzhou green roofs. Relatively weak resistance to Hedra helix is not suitable for large areaused for the roof, need a certain climate, a particular space and the conservation and management.
