Colletotrichum Cda. is one of the most important plant pathogens causing theeconomically important anthracnose disease in a wide range of hosts, including cereals, legumes, vegetables, and fruit trees. The current identification of Colletotrichum specie ismostly based on a combination of morphological and cultural characteristics. Due to limitedmorphological characters in culture coupled with inherent phenotypic plasticity, correctidentification of the Colletotrichum species has always been difficult since the genusintroduced by Corda in1831. It is urgent to elucidate species concept and clarify thesystematic of the genus. Colletotrichum species have not been studied thoroughly in China. The main objectives of this study are to identify and characterize the Colletotrichum speciesin Gutianshan Nature Reserve, and evaluate the role of morphology characters and multi-geneanalysis.In the present study, we collected the samples with anthracnose in Gutianshan NatureReserve. We used the tissue isolation method to obtain the pathogen from the leaves withanthracnose, and identified those isolates based on morphological characters and multi-genephylogenetic analysis. In this study, totally41isolates were obtained from41host plants.Among of them, one is novel species isolated from Dicranopteris dichotoma andCunninghamia lanceolata. It is shown that this species is not host-specific. This is the firstdetailed investigation the anthracnose in Gutianshan Nature Reserve.
