The task derives from the Talent Start—up Fund Project—"The development of radish harvesters", which is the part of the Northeast Agricultural University "211Project".According to the typical model of planting carrot in China, the three-point suspension double-rows carrot harvester which is engaged in loosening soil under the carrot, pulling, cutting leaves, conveying, loading, profile modeling, has been investigated and designed. As for the basic characters of carrot and the key components of the carrot harvester and the development of the machine, this paper can be divided into the following aspects as follows:1) The model of planting carrot in China was investigated and surveyed widely. Combined with the main planting model in carrot-planting area, carrot harvester is developed with120horsepower tractors, which can complete in profile modeling, loosening soil under the carrot, pulling, cutting leaves, conveying, loading by one time. The carrot harvester can meet the satisfaction of harvesting carrot.2) The parameters of mechanics and the basic characters of carrot are tested and researched in the paper. The changing range of the main index value can be can concluded as well as the physical properties of the tensile strength in root band and its pulling force which can provide scientific ground for the development of the carrot harvester.3) The working parameters of pulling and gripping equipment are determined to design the pulling and conveying equipment. The impaction device is designed according to the diameter of per plant’s leaves. The experimental prototype had been made in3D solid modeling Solidworks software.4) The hydraulic system was designed according to the driving force requirements of each component. The control system was designed by the action sequence of the hydraulic system. The profile modeling function was realized by controlling hydraulic electromagnetic valves with the combination of machine-electric-hydraulic systems.5) The loosen shovel was designed, which is one of the key components in the machine, works under the carrots. With the frame up and down, the depth of shovel was controlled by the profile mechanism, obtaining favorable loosen effect. The load conditions of the loosen shovel were analyzed in the paper and strength was checked by the ANSYS finite element analysis software.
