Laparoscopic surgery has several advantages, such as a clear surgical field, a small wound, less bleeding, light response to pain, less tissue adhesion and rapid recovery.laparoscopic surgery has beening conceived by human, applied and developed rapidly. The laparoscopic technique has also been developping in a certain state in the veterinary field. Up to now, laparoscopic surgery has been studied in dogs, goats, sheep, cats and other animals, but in the cat’s study is limited to ovariohysterectomy laparoscopic-assisted surgery, there no report about two-portal laparoscopic ovariohysterectomy in cats. There are some reports about laparoscopic ovariotomy and open ovariohysterectomy in foreign country. In this experiment,12healthy domestic cats as experimental animals were randomly divided into two groups, one is laparoscopic ovariohysterectomy(LOVH)and the other is open ovariohysterectomy(OVH). LOVH was completed in two-portal method and the pneumoperitoneum maintained at6mmHg. The canula were placed at pars umbilicalis and5mm ahead of the last nipples. The bilateral suspensory ligament of ovary and bifurcation of uterus were grasped by tongs type grab under the monitor of laparoscope, and then fixed with retention suture. Then bilateral suspensory ligament of ovary was grasped and the arteria and vena ovarica coagulated by the bipolar coagulation manipulated by surgeon. Then blood vessels in broad ligament of uterus were coagulated, and the broad ligament of uterus was cut by laparoscopic scissors. The body of uterus was cut at the bifurcation of the uterus using bipolar coagulation and then taken out of the peritoneal cavity. It was monitored during the operation with intensive care monitor and were recorded at the time of before the operation, after anesthesia15min,30min,45min,60min and postoperative immediately, and then analyzed the physiological impact which surgery produced. Pain state of cats were observated after operation and was explored abdominal adhesions at postoperative30days. The venous blood of the jugular veins at the multiple time points after surgery was collected in order to detect stress. In this study,two-portal laparoscopic ovariohysterectomy was completed successfully without larger intraoperative and postoperative complications. Average time of laparoscopic ovariohysterectomy was60mins and average incision length was10mm while average time of open ovariohysterectomy was40mins and average incision length was30mm.The affection of laparoscopic ovariohysterectomy was less than open ovriahysterectomy with comparing the two surgeries on the body’s circulatory system, blood gas, and stress response. Much adhesions was found after open ovriahysterectomy when doing postoperative exploratory while only one cat was found less adhesions at the cannula hole to laparoscopic group.Conclusions:1Two-portal laparoscopic ovariohysterectomy was completed successfully and the effectiveness was same to open ovariohysterectomy, thus proving the feasibility of the two-portal laparoscopic ovariohysterectomy.2The circulatory system was monitored during surgery without adverse reaction. Most of cats of laparoscopic group acted freely1-2days after surgery, and the mental status recovered faster than open group. C-reactive protein, interleukin-6and cortisol were detected after surgery, founding less stimulation and stress of laparoscopic group comparing to open group.3Laparoscopic ovariohysterectomy is a kind of safe and effective surgical technic, is worth using in the small animal clinic.
