Objective:The study was based on the germplasm resources investigating and the textual researching of the Rheum tanguticum.We made a series of comparative studies of its’ Species mass types, Biological characteristics, Characters crude drugs, Microscopic characteristic as well as Chemical compositions. The article plans to discuss the concern of species mass type and the quality, provide reference for selecting the GAP base, choice the best variety and discuss the comprehensive utilization of the plant.Methods:Document retrieval and field investigation, applied the theoretical knowledge and experimental technology of Botany, Zoology, Chinese medicine identification, Plant anatomy, Natural pharmaceutical chemistry, Analytical chemistry, ed. Analysis the genuine producing area, species mass types, organ anatomy and the main influence factors of the quality of the rhubarb. HPLC was used to determine the Aloe emodin, Rhein, Emodin, Chrysophanol, Physcion of the species types and the main organs of the Rheum tanguticum, and made a synthesis with the harvests.Results:Rheums are plants that the distribution range and the genuine producing area coincide closely. The main distribution range of the Rheum tanguticum is the trifinio of Gansu, Qinghai and Sichuan province, and it is just the main area where the best rhubarb traditionally produce. According to the agric color, leaf and rhizome shapes, the cultured Rheum tanguticum in Zoige County can be divided into groups:Red-Deep cleft leaf Rhubarb (RDR) and Green-Cleft leaf Rhubarb (GCR). The total content of the5anthraquinones in the2groups was basically identical, but RDR is far less to output than GCR. The content of the anthraquinones is the highest in the fourth autumn after transplanting, production will increase in the fifth year and the content will not decreased significantly. Extremely low anthraquinones content in the above-ground parts, but the emodin in the leaves twice in the under-ground parts. The leaf of RDR has significantly more nonglandular hair. According to the result of petiole dissection, the Abnormal vascular is derived from the provasular stand, and they are opposite distribution. The modern producer pattern that use excavator can elevate to60times to the traditionally pattern, and conspicuously reduce the production costs. Using the method of "drying, shredding, re-drying" will effectively improve the drying effect, and decrease the incidence of the storages" mould and insects" damage.Conclusion:Aba Prefecture is a very important distribution of the wild Rheum tanguticum. Zoige County which lies on the trifinio of Gansu, Qinghai and Sichuan province has been proved to be the genuine producing area and suitable to construction of GAP base. According to the agric color, leaf&rhizome shapes, biomass and output, Rheum tanguticum in Zoige County can be divided into the varieties of the RDR and GCR, the later is the better. The optimum collecting time is the fourth autumn after transplanting and excavator producer pattern should be popularized in the large-scale cultivation of the plant. The drying method is a very influential factor for the storage effect. The tender stem smell pleasant, refreshing sour taste, and the anthraquinones are extremely low, the result exactly proved that rationality of eating the tender stem in the records, it prompted the tender stem of Rheum tanguticum could be utilized as a kind of health food. The emodin of the leaves is high and the leaves may form the feedstock to extract emodin for the high compound levels.
