In this paper, two kind cultivars of cranberry, Stankawich and WSU108, were taken as test materials for pot culture experiments. Improvement methods of the soil conditions for the growth of cranberry were studied by adding different proportions of peat, sand in the garden soil and using sulfur to adjust the pH of cranberry cultivation substrates. And then, the effects of soil improvement on growth and mineral nutrition of cranberry were analyzied by comparing different treatments with the changes in soil pH, plant growth, plant fresh weight, dry weight, water content mineral nutrition and other aspects. The improvement method of soil conditions which was suitble for the cranberry production and cultivation was established initially, which could provide a particle way to expand cranberry cultivation, give reference for an economic cranberry cultivation, and lay a foundation for an extensive regional cultivation and industrialization of cranberry as well. The results are shown below:1、 The physical and chemical properties of the soil can be changed significantly by adding different matrix and also can be improved a lot by adding organic material which can increase the growth of cranberry. Therefore, it can be concluded that the ratios of peat and garden soil (3:1,4:1) and sand, peat and garden soil (1:1:1,5:5:1) were an appropriate soil improvement method for cranberry cultivation and industrial production.2、 The results of the fresh and dry weight of cranberry roots with adding sand are shown better than the contrast ones, which means the permeability of the sand increases and it is good for the cranberry absorption of the effective ingredients in the soil.It can be explained that the growth of cranberry is more suitable for the loose soil as it belongs to a shallow root crop.3、 The mineral element contents of N, Mg, P, K, Ca, Mn, Cu, Zn in cranberry plants above the ground are more than the parts under the ground, and the mineral element contents of Ca, Mu, Cu in cranberry plants above the ground are much more than the parts under the ground, however, the contents of Fe are no sigmificant differences between the plants above the ground and the parts under the ground.4、 In this study, the content of major elements of the functional cranberry leaves were discussed, which planted in several more suitable cultivated cranberry cultivation substrate:N:1.27%-1.61%, P:0.059%-0.077%and K:0.192%-0.372%。5、In this study, it is found that there were little differences between new leaves and winter leaves on the element contents in cranberry plants. Therefore, mixed new leaves and winter leaves can be used for the analysis of cranyberry leaves which can reduce the difficultites of sampling.
