Heterosis is an effective way to increase lint yield and inprove quality in cotton. compared with the white cotton, brown cotton has lower lint yield and poor quality. Therefore, in this article, the heterosis between brown cotton and white cotton was researched, the heterosis of photosynthetic traits, yield traits and fiber quality traits produced by the reciprocal cross F1, the relationship between the photosynthetic traits and yield, fiber quality traits, the different between reciprocal crosses by using Paired-Sample t test, and breeding utilization of the parent evaluated by combining ability analysis were investigated in order to provide theoretical basis for heterosis between brown cotton and white cotton. The major results were as follows:(1) The F1hybrids showed obvious positive mid-parent heterosis in yield traits and fiber quality traits, but don`t showed positive over-parent heterosis. there were no obvious positive effects on the mid-parent heterosis and the heterosis over the better parent of F1hybrids in the photosynthetic traits.(2) The results of Paired-Sample t test showed that the yield traits and fiber traits had no significant difference between reciprocal crosses. As to the cytoplasm effect, except for intercellular CO2concentration there was no significant difference in the other photosynthetic traits between obverse cross and inverse cross, which suggested that intercellular CO2concentration was affected by cytoplasm.(3) The preliminary study showed that hunanzong(A2)、z ong1-61(A3)、E6(B4)、06-597-9(B1)、 HY428(B3) were excellent male parent,06-597-9(B1)、 zong1-59(A4)、hunanzong(A2) were excellent female parent. hunanzong(A2)、06-597-9(B1) can be excellent male parent, and also female parent.(4)06-597-9/zong1-61(B1×A3)、 wanmian133/hunanzong(B2×A2)、 zong1-59/06-597-9(A4×B1)、 hunanzong/wanmian168(A2×B5)、 zong1-59/E6(A4×B4) expressed the better specific combining ability (SCA) in yield traits and fiber traits, these are good value in use of hybrid combinations.
