The3S technology combined with field investigation was employed in this paper to make an analysis on both of land use and landscape patterns of Riparian zone for four rivers (Cihu River, Caishi River, Yushan River and Yongfeng River) in Maanshan city, which was defined as10times as wide as river course. The waterfront green land along Yongfen river was investigated for its species composition and planting design, the visual effect of greening for riparian zone and relative theory of ecological environment was discussed as well. In the paper author summarized different models of greenland design, and green landscape of riparian zone, spatial configuration, planting pattern, etc. Based on the analysis author also provide a proposal on re-planning of green land for riparian zone in the building up area of the Maanshan city.(1) An analysis of landscape pattern for riparian zone landscape. Airphoto with scale1:8000took in2008was used for distinguishing of land use categories in the paper, which combined with field survey. The land use was classified as6categories, or building, road, geenland, water, farm land and other. The results showed that the total area of riparian zone in the city covers2801.3hm2and accounts20.73%of the city area. The both categories of construction and farmland occupied the large percentage, and the average area for these two is larger than that of other but Greenland just occupied a less proportion, especially for riverside. There is no natural riparian vegetation remain, in follows that the ecological functions of riparian zone is relatively weak. Comparing with four riparian landscapes pattern, the landscape richness and evenness in that near to suburbs were higher than that in urban, but dominance index lower. Then appropriate increase of green land in riparian zoon in the city is proposed by author, refer to extant situation of Yongfeng River, author provide an average percentage of green land in riparian zoon in the city should reach to7%to10%.(2) A field survey was taken for the waterfront green lands of Yongfeng River, total59woody species were recorded in35sample plots. The frequency emerging in samples for6tree species is higher than10%, such as Cinammomum campora, Salix babylonica, Prunus cerasifera f.atropupurea, Acer bugerianum, Malus halliana and Magnolia grandiflora for shrub species, such as Spiraea blumei, Jasminum nudifloru, Lonicera japonica, Pittosporum tobira and Osmanthus fragrans and the composition species of community and its vertical structure were more simple. (3) Author discussed the diversity of riparian green landscape, and summarized landscape visual effects and ecological influence factors as well. The green land in riparian zoon could bi classified as3types, or along-the-water type, in-water type and around-the-water type. Meanwhile,5main spatial constitutes for green land, such as ecological space, landscape space, public space, cultural space and economic space was emphasized in the paper. According to the distance to river bank, vegetation could be described as hydrophilic vegetation, near water and away from water then3design models for green land in riparian zoon was proposed, or ecological transitional design, landscape gallery-type design and hydrophilic design mode.(4) Based on above study on lanscape pattern for4in the city, an conception plan of green land system for the river reparion zoons was made. Author proposed an “2-axes and1-circle” pattern, which could link up all green lands of the four river riparian zoon to form a ecological corridor system. In this plan, the circle around the Yushan lake located in the downtown is the center, the2-axes are both along Cihu river and Yongfeng river.
