Study On Cutting Propagation Technique Of Ornamental Pomegranate And Its Species Landscape Application In Hefei

This paper studied on both hard and soft wood cutting propagation technique of Punica granatum used for ornamental. The main research area is Hefei. Effects of cultivated media and exogenous hormone as well as dipping in different time on the hard and soft wood cutting of ornamental pomegranate rooting rate were tested．We try to find the main factors influence on ornamental pomegranate rooting rate.The author also analyzed the current situation of the application of ornamental pomegranate in Hefei，and previded the corresponding measures of its application which had important practical significan.The results showed that:(1) The soft wood cutting experments indicated that the highes rooting rate was87.1%which was in this comparasion when2-3leaves were left on the cutting branches. and the lowest rate was only39.2%when there was no any leaf on the cutting branches. The also results showed that the rooting rate was the highest by the cutting branches dipped in the liquid of100mg kg-1NAA plus100mg kg-1IBA about half hour, and the rooting rate was as high as91.23%.(2) As for the hard wood cutting, different parts of the same branch was tested. The branches in central rooting rate was the highest, rooting rate reached79.4%, followed by61.7%,. However, the weekestgs effect was poorer, only58.4%, and the worst is the slightly department, rooting rate is only46.6%. The varieties of cutting diameter have apparently different effection on rooting percentage. The collar diameter of0.5-1.0cm were best, and its rooting rate was as high as78.67%. but the collar diameter of smaller than0.5cm were worst which the rooting rate was only49.73%. In terms of the length of cuttings branches，the cutting rate was best when the length of8-15cm,as high as80.2%. In the hard wood cutting, the rooting rate was the highest when the cutting branches dipped in the liquid of100mg kg-1ABT2about half hour, and the rooting rate was as high as85.37%. Hard wood cutting for ornamental pomegranate was more difficult and needed longer time than soft wood cutting.(3) The rooting rate was highest when cut in the soil matrix such as1peatmoss:1perlitestone:1riversand，Using mixed soil matrix was obviously better than the single soil in a single matrix, used peatmoss soil rooting rate was only71.23highest.(4) Ornamental pomegranate could be used in landscape application such as ground cover，afforestation seeds，hedgerow，potted landscape in theme gardens，house garden， streets and plazas in Hefei area. With phenophase observation and on-the-spot investigation, we learned about the growth characteristics of ornamental pomegranate characteristics, analysed the landscape application value in Hefei area.(5)All27ornamental pomegranate species were estimated and divided.The best species were some pomegranates which had beautiful flowers as Punica granatum ‘mudanhong’、 Punica granatum‘mudanhuang’ Punica granatum‘Nana’、Punica granatum‘pleniflora’and so on. However，w e should avoid to select pomegranate in Hefei which maybe have many pretty fruits in other suitable places.
