The Production Status And Development Strategy Of Rice In Changdu Of Jiangxi Province

The rural household were surveyed and interviews for the information of rice productiondevelopment in Duchang County. The data was collected and analyzed with the objectives (I)graspthe technical level of county rice production and farmers understand on food production process;(II) explore the major constraints of rice production in Duchang county for explore the possiblesolutions;(III) stabilize rice cropping area, improve paddy rice yield. Our work will help toimprove the rice production in Duchang County.The comprehensive of agricultural production in Duchang county was investigated byanalyzing the county’s basic situation, the current status of rice production, technical level offarmers, agricultural labor quality and paddy infrastructure. The three restricted factors inDuchang’s rice production were indicated. First of all, the low level in labor’s quality, heavy laborburden, poor farm infrastructure, disorder supply of nature resource (i.e. water) and low income offarmer’s family affected rice area in Duchang county; Secondly, paddy rice yield was restricted forhard spreading of scientific agronomic management due to the farming labor’s low acceptance ofnew technology, the blocked spreading channel for rice production technology and low economicinput; The third, the factors of the low comparable price from industries, unstable seed market ofrice seed and low industry degree restrict rice quality improvement. Based on the constraints, thestrategies were drawn out on the aspect of policy, technology, production and logistics with thepurpose of develop the sustainable rice agronomic management in Duchang County.(I) Improvingthe rice area potential by increasing the barren of farmland, enhancing the ability that fightcalamity, developing the scale of crop production, adjusting the subsidy system and improvingapplication of the double cropping;(II) Improving the yield improving by strengthening technicaltraining, simplifying the operation procedure and performing the science and technologydemonstration;(III) Improving the yield improving rice quality potential by variety renewal,profile optimization and process standardization.In this paper, we also discussed the development potential and direction of Duchang Countyrice production. The first issue is the area of rice potential. The current research showed that theactual data of rice planted area from investigation was lower than the statistic value fromgovernment, moreover, there was a plenty of barren farmland exist. If we can eliminate thephenomenon barren and the increase the cropping index to normal levels (1.7-1.8),the rice areapotential was very great. This is not the case study, but exist commonly through the whole country.These result indicated the deep problem exist in China’s statistics system and also implied thatthere was a great of rice area potential in southern China. Secondly, rice yield potential in DuchangCounty is400kg per mu, which was much lower than the average level of China. The result is notcoincident to the nature resources in local. From the data from investigation of100household, therice yield is439.9kg per mu, however, the ratio of single and double cropping to the amount and the yield is lower than that in neighboring provinces. The average yield in Duchang should be450kg per mu, even550kg per mu according to the Duchang county resource conditions. Thesimplified and applicable technology for large area might play an important role in yield increase.Thirdly, mechanization of rice production might play key role in yield production. The movementof labour force from county to city and the farm labor decreased will the common problem presentin our country which will be exist over a period of time. Mechanical of rice production might bethe key to solve this problem fundamentally. In this process, the first step is to realize theagricultural infrastructure construction, including farmland improvement and uniform, waterconservancy machinery reconstruction and political aid, land circulation and scale management,farm machinery and agronomy technical support; the second is to develop the social serviceorganizations and entities, simplified operation procedure and compensate for rice farmers for thedecline in the low rice quality and yield inadequacy. It was important to make social servicebecome a new impetus to the development of rice production. There for the process ofmechanization would be realized orderly, standardized technology were carried out and the scaleeffect would be realized.
